Reiki

Reiki (Ray-Key) is the Japanese word for Universal Life Force Energy. It is an ancient, gentle, hands-on healing art that helps you feel better and heal better. Developed in the early twentieth century by Dr. Mikao Usui, Reiki is an energy-based healing modality that helps to restore the body’s natural balance with the purpose of relaxation and stress reduction. It is based on an Eastern belief in an energy that supports the body’s innate or natural healing abilities. Reiki hasn’t been shown to have any harmful effects. According to David E. McManus, PhD., “Reiki is a safe and gentle “complementary” therapy that activates the parasympathetic nervous system to heal body and mind. It has potential for broader use in management of chronic health conditions, and possibly in postoperative recovery.”
